Interior Design & Planning
As with any growing family the current spaces within their home were not meeting the needs. An open floor plan still was not delivering the effective spaces conducive to everyday events such as cooking, eating and kid’s homework. With entertaining as a focus, including large family gatherings, this chef needed the right tools at her finger tips, preparation space and kitchen efficiencies.
The ideas originally presented by the owners were focused on a basement development to give the kids a space to play, accommodate for the occasional guest and provide a larger entertainment area for the family gatherings. Based on the evaluation of how the family was currently using their existing spaces we turned the attention to the most commonly used areas of the kitchen, master bathroom and bonus room. By eliminating a large jetted tub that was seldom used in the ensuite, adding storage in the bonus room for homework, movies and scrapbooking, and enlarging the kitchen the focus could be on the areas where the living took place. We provided comforts and functionality to these areas where they would be used and enjoyed by the family every day.
